What software can I use to change the background of a recent picture I just took with a digital camera?

Like say if I'm posing there, and my house is behind me, how can I just make it look blank white behind me

It is far easier to reshoot with a white or blank background.

You could spend hours doing this and still end up with an obviously manipulated image.
