Help converting video files.?

I have a Everio hard disk camcorder and it records videos as a file that does not work with Windows Movie Maker...I want it to. I've tried a converter but it didn't work with the video, only the audio. So far, the only way I've been able to watch my videos was on my camera and using the software that came with it. PLEASE HELP!

P.S. I think the video files are (.MOD)

I tried the Square 5 and it didn't work. I'm definitly sure they're .MOD files.

ok first off thats .tod files
retrieve the files from your drive off your cam<through start>my computer>cam drive

then change the extension name from movie.tod to movie.mpeg then movie maker will read it and play it
\ahh macs are much better :D but i do run both ;)

lol did you read that down here ;)
edit feature is nice aye :P

sorry mate your wrong jvc does not make mod files they are tod files and thats what jvc Everio files are
mod files are like shortcut links the actual film file is .tod which is what you want to import
imovie and final cut is sweet! :D sorry for another mac plug :P

but seriosly they are all mpg2 files which is what dvd format is and thats why you can just change the extension name and movie maker will read it because it ultimately is a mpg2 file and thats the extension your movie maker can accept by file name association

I read somewhere that that is simply an altered mpeg2 file. It might work if you simply change the file extension by renaming it with ".mpg".

If the above doesn't work:

I found one place that says it converts those: http://www.squared5.com/

If not, try googling ".MOD Converter". You might be able to find one you can download for free.

Good Luck

You may want to try this: Open windows movie maker, under capture video click on import video. Under file types, click on down arrow and highlight all files. Then under the heading look in (on top) click down arrow again and find the letter that has been given to your Everio. Click on that and begin the download. It should put your video onto your hard drive (the computer) which you can then use in movie maker.
