What standard zoom lens would you recommend for a canon 350D SLR digital camera? |
Current thoughts are Sigma 18-50 f2.8 EX DC or Tamron 28-75 f2.8 XR Di but would like some advice from anyone that has used these lenses or similar. Most photography will be outdoors. Max budget 拢350. Many thanks, Phil. Its best to check out the camera and lens review sites, so you can judge for yourself. Below you will find a link to a well known review page. Also click on "reviews" up the top of the linked page so you can see all lenses. Good luck Source(s): Tamron 28-75 mm review... http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/showp... Sigma 18-50 mm review... http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/showp... go 4 Tamron better opticals I'd get the 18-50mm. With the 1.6 crop factor you're looking at an effective range of 29-80mm. That's perfect for a walk around lens. It is for me, anyway - I use a Nikon 17-55 f/2.8 with a 1.5 crop factor. With a 28-75mm lens, I'd also want a 12-24ish zoom. I think the 2 lenses you have chosen are too short for a standard working lense. Most photo journalists use a working lens in the range of 35-200mm. There are quite a few lenses in this range. My personal favourite is a Tamron, but whatever works. We have a 75-300mm that seems to be permanent fixture on our 300D, and a 35-200mm on our Elan. We do a lot of outdoor shooting and find anything shorter than 100mm just, well, too short. |
