What should I be looking for in a digital camera to take black and white photos? |
I know nothing about digital photography, but would like to learn. I am specifically interested in taking black and white photographs, (trees, bark, leaves, rocks, hands and that kind of thing), concentrating on textures . What kind of camera would you suggest, and what do I need to look for when buying one. I really don't want to spend more than $500.(canadian) if possible. I've been playing around with B/W again. Right now I'm using the Canon Rebel XT, then removing color with photoshop. Unlike the old days of film, we now have software to clean things up. I think you can get good results with most any of the better digital cameras. I would look more at the lens quality than anything else if you are going 'point & shoot' rather than SLR. My little Sony Cybershot, did some pretty good pictures, however nothing compared to the SLR. On the other hand the Sony was MUCH cheaper! One good SLR lens can cost more than a good point & shoot. It's just in how you print the picture, with color or with out. price tag cos they're almost all the same for the big names Get a used Digital Rebel (regular, not the XT), shoot in RAW format and play from there w/ Canon Software for color correction. After that, you would probably get a new camera and turn the Reb into a infrared camera (ultimate B/W style) Most all digital cameras will process B&W and color. |
