Which digital SLR is best for black and white photography? |
Which digital SLR is best for black and white photography? Any camera which is capable of capturing images in RAW. Using the RAW format and capturing ALL the information, not just the BW, is important for post processing adjustments in range, tonality and contrast. Disregard features such as BW mode as these are little more then gimmicks. Any color image can be converted to BW in post processing later to better effect. At present most current digital SLRs are capable of capturing images in RAW format. Canon and Nikon are the most versatile cameras as far as lens availability, Canon DSLRs are better at higher ISOs and if you are working in low light without a flash this must be a consideration. Otherwise I would say any current Canon or Nikon DSLR will get you excellent results. I absolutely love my Canon Digital Rebel XT Keep researching. You will probably only get reccomendations from owners here. Go to some digital photography sites and look for appropriate links. i.e [Black and white] or [ digital V's film] OLYMPUS E series Canon SLRs (some) have B&W modes which simulate photography by adding "filters" (orange, red, etc.). This is MUCH better and faster than trying to do it after the fact in PS...and the results are wonderful. |
