Which digital camera is good for night photography; looking for one with atleast 6x optical zoom? With those requirements you are greatly limiting yourself. I suggest that you go to http://www.dpreview.com to look at the cameras that are currently available. [For night photography, I'd look to Digital SLRs. You'll be pretty limited with a point-and-click, even a good one.] As for night photography, you should be looking for the widest aperture that you can find. The aperture is the little f/5.6 number used when discussing lens capabilities. The LOWER the number the wider the lens opens. You need the wide aperture (hole) so that you can get a lot of light into the camera in a short period of time -- otherwise you risk movement blur. You also want to look for a camera that can simulate a high ISO setting and one with image stabilisation. Check out the Panasonic cameras. I think you would have to go with a DSLR, the Pannys are a little noisey |
