Would you have more respect using a manual camera for photography or digital? |
Would you have more respect using a manual camera for photography or digital? I guess it depends how you see it. For a film user, you don't get ot see your shots until you develop it. Effects to your shot are usually made while you are taking the photo. You can use vavious different processing methods to develop your picture to get different effects. So basically your knowledge and creativity is in force before you see the photo (what film to use, how to get the effects, how to develop etc). For a digital user, you get to preview every shot you take, can decide to re-take it if it's bad, easily try a few dozen settings just for 1 shot and easily use the numerous softwares available to digitally enhance your image. So if based on photography technicalities, I give thumbs up to film users. But if based on DI (digital imaging) abilities (use of computer prowress), the good for them! For me, film users get my respect. I started out as one and it's not easy but very fulfilling. Also cos these days, almost every kid round the block knows how to tweak a digital photo using photoshop. So wat's so special with that? Source(s): photographer It doesn't matter. On the digital cameras no one can tell what you are doing. On the tradional cameras, no one knows what you are doing. I can do about the same with either. However, I learned on a 35mm SLR and got the best shots from using an SLR and certain lenses. My digital gives up what is easy for what I need to work with. published and produced Now that I have gone and gotten my degree in photographic tech. I would say there is no real diff. to me in the respect dept. unless the manual user is developing their own photos which takes more skill than useing a digital printer. But the only other diff. I see is you cant get a preview and have to take more shots with diff lenses and filters on a manual. So my respect goes to digital since they are smarter to spend more money to use less time in the long run! Working in a photolab 4 years and having a B.A. in photographic Tech. |
