Do more pixels really make for better pictures in your digital photography, compact or slr better? |
Do more pixels really make for better pictures in your digital photography, compact or slr better? not necessarily, of course the minimum is 3 megapixels for 2X4 printouts...the larger your prints the more pixels you will need. the term Megapixels can be somewhat misleading, while a genial rule of thumb is: more MP the better, this isn't always true. So it breaks down into two things: the number of pixels and the quality of those pixels. while we have a rough measure system for the number of pixels that a camera has, we don't have a measure for the quality of those pixels. Hands down a DSLR will produce a much better photo than a compact because: sensor is high quality (=better pixel quality), lower noise in low light, vastly better optics today your typical camera is 5MP this is all you need for 90% of consumers. 6-10+MP give you the ability to print really big or crop and still print large http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/mpmyth.h... |
