I Need to learn about Digital Photography Help Please...? |
Hi , I Took a week end class last year about DSLR. But i lost all my nots:-( is there is any web Site That could Teach me about DSLR and how To become Good at It ? what is the best way to become A pro ? ;-) Thanx the best way to become a pro is to do it all day everyday 7 days a week 52 weeks out of the year...the more you shoot the better you are...take a real class at a college or adult night school every time you pick up you camera and shoot you learn something.... at night when you are watching tv have your camera with you and work with your settings...place a cup or a vase in front of you and take pictures of it over and over again...change the setting as you do it and then compare what each setting does...take notes....... I joined an online group and learned a lot. Several members were newbies when they joined but turned pro after a few years. The group I'm at is called Photocritique at Yahoo Groups. You post a photo and it gets critiqued. You can also ask questions on technical matters, composition, equipment, well, anything that concerns photography. Being good at photography and being a pro are two different things. I can be a little thick-skinned and say that I am pretty good. I even freelance. But I know I would not be able to cut it as a pro. Besides talent, experience, technique and knowledge, you will also need capital, business acumen, people skills and patience. I have some of the former but little of the latter. So I stick with my day job. In photography you do not have to go to formal school and have a degree to be a photographer. 1. You should learn the technical aspects of photography and your camera (composition, shutter speed, depth of field etc), once you understand these you will be able to create better images. 2. Shoot in "M" (manual mode) because you will have more control over your camera and not the other way around. When you are in one of the "Auto" modes the camera will just read the highlights and shadow areas and try to get you a picture. The camera is not smart enough to know what you are shooting. 3. You can start reading all kinds of books on this subject and get information from the internet. This includes web based classes, manufactures web sites to personal blogs. 4. Buy the best DSLR camera that you can afford this also includes good lenses. Take out your camera and manual sit down and go over all the buttons and knobs etc.. this is the best way for you to learn what your camera can do. 5. Start shooting with your camera to get practice and from what you are learning from reading and doing you will get better. Practice does make perfect. Take notes while shooting and then look at your photos on the computer find the best one from that set and see what you did to get the shot. 6. You can get yourself a job as a photographers assistant (be it payed or free) and learn from that person. 7. My suggestion is to find a part of photography that you would have an interest in and point in that direction. Here are few websites to look at: http://www.betterphoto.com/home.asp... http://www.photonhead.com/beginners/... http://www.shootsmarter.com/ http://www.kodak.com/eknec/pagequerier.j... http://www.lexar.com/dp/index.html?cmp=e... And just in case you want to work on a degree: http://www.photographyschools.com/... Hope this helps, Kevin Professional Photographer |
