What was the Status of Photography in the Civil War? What Camera's where used?

I desperately need these questions answered!
please help!

2. What kinds of cameras were used?

Yes, photography was around during the civil war. The type of cameras used were called tin type cameras.

it took 5 minutes for the picture to take.
that is why they don't smile.
