I am starting A Level photography in september and do not know what type of camera to buy?? |
I have wanted to start photograpg for a few months now but because i am half way through my a-levels i can only do a year on it-better than nothing i suppose!! Most any DSLR is the way to go, you might get a better deal with Pentax/ Samsung though. Don't forget with SLR's your buying into a system. Before you spend any money, check with your instructor. Spending a few hundred pounds on a digital camera when you need a 35mm SLR, would be sad. The 400D is a great entry level DSLR. Most of the students at the Art Institute use this camera, and the price has dropped a lot recently. If you can, get a Pentax K10D. The 400d is good, but the 40d is a little better... if you can afford it. Just make sure you get a decent lens, because that is what is going to make most of the difference. Most probably you will have to get a manual film SLR to get the basics under your belt. Chinon do one, as do Nikon and Pentax. http://www.jessops.com I have a great Nikon D40x, but should they not advise you in uni when you start? |
