As an elective at Uni (UTS) im thinking of doing Photography. Is it a hard subject?

I want to know how gruelling and expensive Photography is as a Uni course?
I cant handle an elective that is more work than my core subjects, so basically, im looking for a half copout, but i also really enjoy photography, so help me!

For someone who is really interested in it and takes it very seriously, it can be very difficult, but they will get a lot out of it. If you are looking at it because you like to take photos of your friends with your cell phone and go in with the attitude you expressed, you will probably pass, but also not get anything out of the course. I would suggest taking something that interests you enough so you are excited about the class rather than taking it because it is easy and will fill a requirement.

Photography is not a big enough subject to take a Doctorate in, its only ever a small part of an Arts course, and often does not even count towards your degree.

As you will need equipment, usually a 35mm film SLR and film its not a cheap course to enroll on.

You can teach the 'practicalities' of Photography in less than a day, the rest of the course is making sure you understand properly, expanding on them and applying them.

A lot of professionals will try to tell you its an 'arcane' art, actually at the basic level its very easy, but, like all subjects at Uni, will expand to fill the time allocated to it.

Photography is a great 'life skill' to have and the opportunity to learn it properly should not be missed.
