What's the best and simplest compact camera for a lady who doesn't have a clue about photography?

My lady friend wants a camera that takes good pictures, because she doesn't!

If there is a button on the camera to press that screws up an otherwise good picture, she will press it. Zoom, megapixels etc don't matter. The requirements are:
1) Must be silver
2) Must be small, thin and light
3) Must be really easy to use (a setting where everything is automated?)
4) Preferably a good brand name

I would go with the Cannon or a Sony. I bought my girlfriend a Cannon a couple of years ago and she loves it.

Point-and-shoot digital cameras are all quite simple these days. They all have an automated setting that will allow her to just press the shutter button to take a picture. The above Canon Powershot suggestion would be an excellent camera for her.

The few issues she's going to have with any digital camera is downloading the pictures and deleting them from her memory card once she has. A workaround for this would be to show her how to take the memory card out and then she can take it into a store to get prints or a photo CD made.

I would go with an Olympus or a cannon, I have an Olympus and it is very easy to use and has tons of auto features. Olympus and cannon are known for there cameras. The Olympus FE-320 is super slim and it has an image stabilization mode.

What you want doesn't exist. It's like asking for a car that will turn bad driver into a good one. It just doesn't happen. The only thing that might help is getting a camera with image stabilization.

Get a Sony Cybershot. They are small and quick to use. I have one and I love the software it comes with. It is the easiest one I've ever used!
