How much money do I need to settle my own PHOTOGRAPHY STUDIO? ?

Because I would like to work as a photographer someday. Thanks.

Hello...

I have an in-home studio...which my clients love..they feel more comfortable if they are doing a studio shoot (plus no extra rent)...but I also do plenty of on location shoots and weddings...

I'll break down to you how much my equipments cost me....

My camera and lens was 2500, my new computer was over 1000, my epson printer was 600, my lights were 800, I have 3 backdrops+backdrop stand that cost me about 300...tripod=30, hard camera case=60

that's just the intial set up...

monthly I'm out about 100 for ink and paper....and 40 extra on my electricity bill....plus gas for location shoots...

but it's all work it....In the last year I've about made up for my expenses..in shoots....

good luck

Hi Charlotte

If you have a home, convert your basement or one big room into a photo studio. It will pay off.
First of all, you won't have to pay any rent since you are already there. Many people love that idea because they feel less intimidating. At least, you can offer than coffee, tea, drink etc....to ease the stress and shyness and get to chat a little with them.

As for the pirce of equipment, that depents on your budget but i would buy second hand lights, shades, umbrellas etc.... They are still good and you are the one that decides if the pics come out good or not. Not the equipment. Use your creativity and imagination.

Good Luck

You can start with bare bones equipment and without a studio. Many wedding photographers don't have studios. To get started you need:
1. an slr or dslr camera and a back up camera- can even be a point & shoot but better would a second slr or dslr body. The kit lens and may a medium telephoto lens. U.V. filter and a polarizing filter, and a warming filter, and possibly a neutral density filter.
2. tripod
3. off camera strobe and flash bracket
4. two lights (strobe or hot lights) and light stands
5. photographic umbrella
6. posing stool
7. some paper backgrounds in various colors and a background stand to hang them on.
8. And the most important piece of equipment that you need to have:
Your imagination!

And you can do weddings and portraits on location.

A small home studio can be as a simple as a small table and a light.
You will need a camera and a tripod, too.

Plan on $800 for that type of studio setup.

A professional studio can be a rented loft ($$$) and tens of thousands of dollars in equipment.

You are work someday photography. It is not enough. It will large cost take of you. Approximately you will spend 5 lakh investment.

If you have to ask you don't have enough.
Plan on no profits for the first 5 years.
You will pay bills but little more for 5 years. make sure you are ready first.
