What is a good digital camera for professional photography?

What is a good digital camera for professional photography?

The new Sony Alpha is a good one, as is the Canon Eos 3D or the EOS 1 MARK II. I suggest you visit this site:

You'll get your answer easilly

Warning: they are not cheap

One more word of advice: If you want to be serious about Professional photography, buy the cheapest professional model you can find ( maybe a sony or canon, but not the top of the line) and buy really good lenses, lenses are expensive, and you should start with a 50mm/1.4, a 28mm, and a 130mm, These lenses alone will cost you upwards of $5000, but they are much more important than the camera itself.

Whats your budget?

This will really tell you what type of camera you can buy

You can spend 30k on a camera if you wanted.

Most professional cameras range around 5 to 10k then around 2k for couple good lenses.

Over all find what your budget is. Compare the cameras in your range. There will only be a few. All the dslr are about the same you have to find out what one fits you best.

IF you tell me you have 600 bucks to spend it would be the
sony a200
nikon 40
canon rebel

1000ish?
nikon d90
canon d40
sony a350

1500ish
nikon d300
sony a700
3000
1D Mark
nikon d700

and so on.

If you are doing landscape, architectural or product photography I would suggest the Linhof Technikardan, its what I use for landscape and architectural work because it is compact like a field camera but with movements more similar to a studio view camera.

and the new Phase One P65, 60 megapixel back http://www.phaseone.com/ or if you are more into landscapes than anything else I would suggest the betterlight 10k-hs scanning back with the panoramic adapter which can yields 2.8 gigapixel images(my friend just gave me a demo in the field, amazing results, and the prints we made on his wide format Epson blew me away, beats the prints from my scanned 4x5 chromes).

How much are you willing to spend?

DSLR's range in price from a few hundred, to around fifty thousand. How much you want to spend is really important. However, i'll give you a taste of all budget here:

Nikon D80 1,000$

More Semi-Pro Camera:

NIkon D300 1,650$

i don't imagine you want a camera that's over four thousand if you're just beginning right?

what the guy above said and i hear nikons are ok also,

if you want great try the hasselblad h3d or a rz mamiya with a digital zd back

usually one gets the skills and knowledge to know what camera to buy before going pro, but its popular not to nowadays

a

It would depend somewhat upon what your field is, general portraiture, landscape, product, weddings, etc. Could you let us know your field of expertise?
