What can I do better with my photography? |
I've been asking many of my family an friends on what they think about my photography. Sure I take their advise into consideration but I'm wondering if I need help from other photographers in order to get better. They say art is subjective, so I'm trying to get everyones opinion on that. Even then I'm not sure because people also tell me you can't make everyone happy, but I'm trying to do just that... prove everyone wrong. Link : http://s88.photobucket.com/albums/k196/m... Guest Password: Gomez Let me know what you think.. Thanks. Actually, I thought a lot of them were pretty cool. The snow shots made me homesick......don't get much snow where I live now. haha. You have the thought, composition and talent part down to a T. I went back and looked at your favorites....I think they're very, very good. In my opinion you have all the points of an excellent photo in the majority of them. There are a few that could be better but no one can take a perfect photo every time no matter how long they have been doing photography. Everyone's personal taste is going to differ also. What I might view as the best photo in the world someone else may look at it and absolutely hate it. I see talent. Now you need to DO something with your talent....... Source(s): nature photographer I would say you have a good eye for layout and composition. Also you like textures (and I do too). But you could work more on 'tones'. Almost every picture you take (not -you- but generally) will benefit from adjusting brightness/contrast/levels for a pleasing range of tones. One thing I learned in a class years ago is that every picture should have one totally black dark and one brilliant white highlight, and everything else should be distributed along a line between them. Getting good tones in old-fashioned chemical-based photography is hard as hell but in digital photography it's almost trivially easy. You can make those textures jump out! Also you should watch where the sun is. Having the sun behind your subject just makes things darker and harder to see (although you can do it on purpose sometimes to get a dramatic effect). There are two answers to how to improve your photography. In this order: Take classes at your local community college. This is the most efficient way to avoid leaning bad habits when it comes to composition, exposure and other photographic skills and the fastest way to learn. Shoot as often as you can. Always take your camera with you when you leave the house and shoot like a wild-person. The goal is to take perfect images in the camera and rely as little as possible on digital darkroom programs like Photoshop and others. Editorial, sports and glamour photographer |
