Would this be wrong or stupid......?

I'm a wedding photographer myself and by the time reception comes I tend to be a bit tired...
My fiance and I are having a buffet meal at our reception but the parents table and head table will be served.
I was THINKING of putting the photographer at the parents table so she can be up front and be able to catch all the photos while sitting down AND being served. I know this is probaly weird but other then marring my man, the photos are VERY important.
There would be 3 grandparents, 4 parents and the photographer. Our brothers, only have one each, are in the wedding.
I know my side of the family will be ok with that.
What are your thoughts?

I think that since you are a photographer yourself, anything you do in that arena would be acceptable. It might seem a bit odd to some, but I think everyone would give you leeway considering your occupation.

My finace is a photographer, and we had one of his photographers come and shoot the shower, which is unheard of where I live, but considering my finace's line of work, nobody batted an eye at her being there.

It IS your marriage - as long as both sides agree with it - I'm sure it will be fine! :D

You are probably one of the best people to know what is best for the photographer, if you and your fiance are both happy with it I would say go for it!

Why not, it is your wedding. You want the best pix. So do what you want, I mean as long as you aren't moving Aunt Betty or something to the kids table to do it. Good luck.

If you know the photographer, and appreciate the work they do - - I say go for it.

Well, if you know the photographer, and you know both sides of the family would be ok with it, then why not talk with the photographer and discuss his/her thoughts on the matter. They are a photographer too, so they probably get tired like you. Just ask him/her what she thinks. I think if everyone is ok with it, it will be fine. Plus, who says he/she cant get up every once in awhile, if need be, to take a couple extra photos? Plus, keep in mind that people, at least not me, really want to have a camera in their face while they are eating. So this might be a good time he/she can get a little down time rest in.

It's just not appropriate. I'm a photographer, as well, and would never accept that, to encroach on the families like that.
Best to have the photographer seated at the side, she's going to have to get up to take photos anyway, but her being mobile is being more important.

As a freelance wedding photographer myself.... i tink it is okie. Since family shots are the most important ones followed by the rest, it makes sense to do so. I do get such requests at times too....
