Get input from distant family on MANY old photographs efficiently?

I鈥檇 like to post or print photos and have family members offer suggestions on who some of these people are, then reorganize them and print out several sets in albums. If I post them on line, there does not seem to be an efficient way of people commenting on these. Keep in mind I鈥檓 talking about hundreds of photographs because my deceased uncle was a professional photographer and took lots of photographs. Unfortunately, lots of them may of not been family members because he worked for a news paper during the 1920-1940 in Europe.

Suggestions needed:
1) Best way of distributing hundreds of proofs to around 5 people around the country
2) Best way to getting feed back on each photograph
3) How to reorganize photographs in a meaningful way with comments

I presume these have been digitised, if so, as only a few people are involved, it may be better to send the images as thumbnails or low res. in small batches to your various relatives.

Don't forget they will all need an individual identifying number so you are all talking about the same picture. I know it's obvious, but needed saying.

You can start with pictures of individual people, once they are identified you can send out picture of those identified people within group shots to identify others.

If you post them on line then the idiots come out of the woodwork and you may find yourself wasting time on blind alleys, better to keep it in the family.

If you turn up pictures of famous people then other organizations, museums etc. may be interested.

Post them on Flickr.com. People can go look at them and write comments.

But they will all have to be digitized on the internet, though.

Further to anidifranco23's answer:
You'll want a paid account ($25), but your family can use the free ones. If you want to keep it private, you can label everything "friends only" and set them as friends. Then they can put their comments right on the exact photo.
