Where to wed?? |
We had planned to have a small ceremony at my church and then 2 receptions. One in VA and one in his hometown(FL). When I told my family of my engagement they freaked on me and said that we didn't have their blessings. 3 days later they were happy for me even had a celebration dinner. Plans for my small wedding turned into a wedding for family only. 4 more days later they reverted back and said no. So to avoid the drama on our day, we moved the ceremony to FL. Within a day we picked out a wedding party, got the officiant, sent people out to help us research photographers and reception halls. Also his sister offered to foot majority of the bill. My pastor (uncle) in VA says it'll be 250 for him, 700 to use the church and him, and 1400 for pastor, church, and to use the camera, etc. His pastor in FL says he wouldn't charge us. My grandma now is complaining she is too old to travel and is offering 900 to have it in VA. Any ideas? It is your wedding you should be doing what makes you happy because you are never going to please your entire family. You hopefully only have one shot at this. I think your idea of 2 receptions is the best. They can help plan that. You could play the video of your wedding at each or have a simple renewal of vows. I would say have it in Florida it looks like it will be way cheaper and you could even have it on the beach. Then renew them with your uncle (who shouldn't charge you) at the reception in VA. Good Luck and remember it is your day!!!! THE BEST THING IS A SMALL WEDDING, THAT WAY YOU, YOUR FAMILY AND CLOSEST FRIENDS CAN ENJOY IT. Find a place halfway between and get married there..make your wedding your special day and do what you want to do. it sounds like it is getting more complicated than you first intended, just talk it over with your fiancee and pick a location together, good luck get married in Hawaii. just the two of you. cheaper, less hassles. congratulations!!! |
