Photography Exam Help?

Hi, for my photography work I have got to take photos of something from the topic 'Links and Connections' I am thinking of either do something about family, friends or people in general maybe people of different ages. I was wandering if anyone had any ideas and im also looking for photographers who had produced this kind of work for my research if you know of any. Could someone please help me?

Interesting topic. Actually, anything to do with people was not at all what came to my mind upon first seeing the topic.

Some things that came to me were such as:

Fuel. Photo examples could be:
Price display on the pump.
Price display on the sign.
People lined up at "cheap" stations with their big SUVs
A shot of the pump nozzle in the filler
A shot of people looking at small cars on a car lot
A shot of a man carrying a gas can on the side of the road, (with a big SUV in the background)
A shot of a speed limit sign with vehicles speeding past.

Another idea: Pets
Some examples could include:
Someone walking their dog
A young girl hugging her cat
A veternary clinic
Dogs and cats in cages in animal shelters
A shot of shelves full of canned pet food
A shot of pet toys in a pet store
A photo of a vet examining a dog or cat
A photo of a pet cemetery and some close up shots of the various headstones and trinkets left by the owners. If you could get a shot of someone at their former pet's grave, that would be very touching.

Another idea. Communication. Examples could include:
Photos of radios, cell phones, land line phones, televisions, radio and tv stations, satilite dishes, broadcast towers.

Of course, no matter what the topic, strive to get photos that are beyond the norm. Such as instead of just a photo of a cell phone, take a close shot of the keypad with someone dialing a number.

Instead of a distant photo of a gravesite, get a shot of a flower petal with the stone visable in the background.

Just "think outside the box" to quote a stale saying. "Links and Connections" could relate to many things. Family, friends and such would be way too common.. at least for me. Strive to put together a series of photos that will make people go.. WOW.. I never thought of that,... and your grade will likely reflect your thought and inspirations.

have you been on the magum photos site? worth a try, just type in friends and family and it should come up with photographers which have done that kinda thing
i know donavan wylie, martin parr and lise sarfati looked into families at one point but nothing huge just the odd domestic snap

when i think of links or connections i think of family or how everything relies on something els to exist.

When I first read 'links and connections' the first thing that sprang to mind was chains. You know, like padlocks and such. That's what I'd do anyway. Although I do prefer more abstract concepts, I suppose.
