Thesis: Max was a blow-up artist of the 1960鈥檚, giving new meaning to contemporary art with his signature style of photo collage and painting.

I) Growing up
a. born in Berlin, Germany
b. moved to Shanghai, China where he was raised 鈥?gained much cultural knowledge and perspective.
1. lived near a Buddhist monastery

3. studied the Buddhist/Tibetan sand mandalas 飪?these became a big influence in his works, especially in his photo collages
c. traveled with his family to many different places across the Eastern Hemisphere: throughout China, Tibet/The Himalayas/Shangri-La, India, Africa, Israel (where his love for astronomy began), Paris, and lastly, the United States in 1953.
d. Attended the Art Student鈥檚 League in Manhattan
