I am a family photographer and a sony fan for its looks and featurs.?

I just lost T 100 and planning to buy T300, 5x zoom, touch screen, 3200 ISO, etc in a compact size are grt features. However family view is that night pics of t100, even the merlion at fullerton :) is not great and they have been recooed by all towards CANNON or Nikon D series. I use the camera mostly on vacation outdoors under auto mode and need a point and shoot (no SLR pl), should i stick to sony ( T or A series) or any other cannon model is better ? cannon has too many models to confuse a basic guy like me. (wide lenses, my colours, lens placement, etc)
All i need is a 5 MP or higher with max possible zoom and quality featurs to good pics and not 1900 looks :). Budget is not a constrain. Tks

Sony makes decent, low-light performers, just not in the T series, which are optimized for pocketability and coolness.

If you still want something pocketable, look for the W200 model: although it has much more resolution than you've said you need, it also has a 1/1.7" sensor which gives the camera a visibly better ISO performance than any camera in the T series could possibly have. It also has a better quality lens.

Another nice alternative, if you absolutely have to have a large, touchscreen LCD, is the Sony N2 model.

But if you also want more optical zoom, and unless you're willing to buy the monstrous and expensive R1, you'll have to forget about Sony (and its MemoryStick cards) and look other brands, such as Fujifilm or Canon.

All in all, and considering that you probably have some MemoryStick cards that you'd like to reuse, I'd suggest sticking to the W200 or N2 models.
