Photography: Art or Hobby? |
I'm really into photography, I actually want to make it my career and I'm thinking about changing my major from English to Art. Right now it's just a hobby, and friends and family tell me I take really great pictures, and I think so too. Would being a photographer be a better career choice than English? Being a photographer sounds way cooler than being, let's say, an English teacher, don't you think? At the end of the day, it's all up to you though... P.S. Photography can be more than a hobby if you find the beauty in it and make it an art. Depends on what you mean by better. Like if you got a degree in English and became a teacher you have to put up with kids all day and you get a teachers salary. If you get a Photo degree then you work by yourself and you get a photographers salary. Photography would be fun. I mean, other wise you would be getting paid to grade papers all day. " Alot of teachers really hate that and so they ussually make the kids grade their own papers. As with anything, it depends on what you do. English is a very broad subject- an english degree isn't' really good for any one particular thing. It's a general catch all. Go for the arts degree, it will give you one more option. anything you can do with an English degree you can do with any degree. not so with the arts. Some photography is pretty good business- portraits, for instance. News is another decent option. |
