I DONT NEED TO KNOW THE ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS I JUST NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SOLVE THEM. 1.One Family from Europe went to the grand canyon snf they need to submit their weights so the helicopter company can plan a balanced seating arrangement. They submitted their weigt in kilograms. The 5 passengers weighed: 50kg, 60 kg, 70 kg, 80 kg, and 90 kg. If 1 kilogram is equal to 2.2 pounds, how many pounds did each passenger weigh? 2. Design a seating plan. Place 2 people on one side and 3 on the other with less than a 25 lb. difference between the 2 sides. 3.The maximum weight allowable for passengersin the helicopter is half a ton. The helicopter company wanted to fill the sixth passenger seat with a photographer. What was the greatest number the photographer could weigh? Question one. Times each of the weights by 2.2, that gives the weight of each. Question two. Having worked that out, try to spread out the weight as evenly as you can, adding them together. Question three. Find out how many lb in a ton, divide it by two, take away the total weight (lb) of all the passengers, that is the maximum. here you go: 1. Multiply each weight in KG with 2.2 to get their respective weight in Pounds (lbs). 2. take 3 of those weights in pounds and add and then the remaing 2 and note what is the difference. Do this for all the combinations of 2 and 3 weights of all the 5 and see which is the lowest and closest to 25 lbs. 3. Add all the 5 weights together and substract from half ton and that is the max weight the photographer can have. Good Luck. take 50 x 2.2 60 x 2.2 70 x 2.2 80 x 2.2 and 90 x 2.2 then you will have the weight in lbs of each person Try to find the best way to solve part 2, My guess is that the lowest two and the heaviest on one side and the two others on the other side but i'm not doing the calculations for you. Add all of the weights up from part 1, then subtract that number from 1000 (1/2 ton) to get the remaining weight it should be a positive number. 1) take the individual weights and multiply the total by 2.2. The simple equation her is Kx2.2=LBS (kilograms times 2.2 = pounds) 2) you just have to place people until you come up with the correct answer. trial and error 3) a ton is how many pounds? half of that minus the answer to question 1 tells you the maximum weight for the photographer. 1.50kg=110 lb. 60 kg=132 lb. 70 kg=154 lb. 80 kg=176 lb. 90 kg=198 lb. 2.110+132+154=396 176+198=374 3.the total of these=870 lbs. so the 6th could weigh upto 130 lbs. 1. multiply each persons weight by 2.2 to get the pounds 2. three ppl need to weigh within 25 lbs of the 2 other ppl so i would think 2 heavy ppl would approximately = 3 lighter ppl 3. .5 ton = 1000 lbs subtract each persons weight from 1000 and what is left over is how much the 6th person can weigh 1)okay, think about it, there is 1 kilogram for every 2.2 pounds so a kilogram is a little more than twice as big as a pound if something weighed 2 kg, it would obviously weight 4.4 lbs 3 kg would be 6.6 pounds (see the pattern, its multiplying by 2.2) the conversion is usually written this way: 50 kg * (2.2 lbs/kg)=110 lbs (a small person, get the idea?) the other passengers are of course figured the same way 2) once you know their weight in lbs, you are supposed to balance them for the ride, you can't put an even number on each side, so you have to have two on one side and three on the other clearly one or both of your big people are going to have to be on the two person side just try adding up different combinations (using the wieghts in lbs that you calculated in the first step) and when you have a group of 3 and a group of 2 that are within 25 lbs of each other, you are there 3) remember that a ton is 1000 lbs, and so half a ton is 500 lbs add up the weights of all the family (in the lbs from problem #1) and subtract that number from 500, and you can see how much weight is left unused of the 500 lbs (half ton) that can be passengers think it through keep at it good luck math is power |
