Can I elope and still have a beautiful dream "wedding"? |
We chose to elope to save money by combining our honeymoon and "wedding" but also because his family tries to ruin everything and have done terrible things to both of us, and I have always wanted to be a pretty bride, but can we both travel to our destination, no guests and buy a pretty dress and have a photographer and videographer tape it, as though its a real wedding? I would like documentation other than paper saying we got married in this beautiful locale, so I can also show my family when we get home. We both feel this is a good idea because his family will not exclude themselves from festivities and would do anything to break it up. Also I would like to have a carefree, sweet little ceremony with a registrar or justice of the peace or something. Can I still be a pretty bride without spending all of the money and also having a videographer do something clever as well as photographer or is that stupid? Yes, you can elope and have a gorgeous wedding! The wedding-moon that you described at a destination is very possible. Contact an all-inclusive resort, explain to them what you want, and they'll make it happen. You'll just have to bring what you want to wear, or buy it there, but I would recommend buyng it in the states and taking it with you. You can also have a great wedding at any location with a JP or other officiant, and hire a photorapher and videographer to record it all. You will be a beautiful bride regardless, and you don't have to tell anyone until it is done. Best wishes! Just think if you're going somewhere tropical it will be be-a-u-tiful! I say GO FOR IT! I know Mexico does a great job! But just remember you won't have ANY family there. They have lots of places for destination weddings. I think it's totally acceptable. If you dont' want to include your screwed up families it's the way to do it.. They have packages at a lot of the Sandals hotels at many locations were you can have a cermeony and your honeymoon also. Be prepared to spend a MINIMUM of $3,000.
