Cost of a Wedding? |
I am planning a wedding and plan to only invite close friends and family aprox. 30-50 people. My finace and I do not want anything extreme or outrageouse just something simple and nice. I have budgeted $2,000 dollars for this wedding my step-mother is a photographer and will be doing all of our pictures. My family will be doing all of the cooking and we will pay for the food. Please let me know your opinion if this sounds doable thank you. Actually that is a very nice amount. I am getting married in 2 weeks and we are going to have the same amount opf people as you. Our budget is just about $1000 and it has worked out perfectly. Some ways to cut costs... Plan an afternoon reception so the guests have already had lunch. That way you can set out meat and cheese platters for making sandwiches. Have your reception right after the ceremony. If you have a nice location it will cut down on stress and cost! Look for locations that are around $200-$300 if you do not have a church. We are getting married at a winery. They charged $200 for the day and that included seating and tables for 50 people. Stick to budget on your dress. My dress cam from an ebay store, The Perfect Gown. The lady who owns it used to have an actual shop but is now selling on ebay. She was wonderful! My dress was around $200 and is semi-cathederal, white with red-mauve flowers on it, matching handbag, and an optional corset top. If you and your family have a lot of cd's or you get your music online, think about burning your own cd's to play at the reception. Think about buying a sheet cake for your wedding cake. Ours is beautifully decorated with linked hearts and sugar flowers in our colors. The best part is...it was only $25! Ask around and see if your friends and family have any hidden tallents. It turned out that My mother knew a lady who sings at weddings, a lady from college videotapes weddings and makes DVD's, and another friend is a amature photographer with a very nice portfolio! Good luck! Have fun! Most importantly, think of the real reason you are having this celebration. It is easy to get lost in all the little choices.
