Wedding help?!?

Just got engaged last month after 5 1/2 yrs of being together :)
We had wanted a may 09 wedding...then we found out we're moving to San Francisco in a couple months (from KY)...so we decided we couldn't afford a wedding yet :( I really want to still have it in 2009... I'm totally disregarding a reception for now...I guess we can do that in like 2010 when we have more money.
I do not want favors or anything like that...I need to plan on atleast 100-150 people there...We have big families...he has a lot of extended. My brother is a photographer and will do the pix...So I am looking for some cheap ideas on a quick simple wedding (in Rochester, NY)...No food or anything!!!!

Please give some advice! Thanks ladies

hi! so congrats! here's my advice, i would let everyone know what the situation is then have family and friends help out. you can still have a party, it doesn't have to be the usual stuffy reception. just have like snacks made by the people you love, the best kind of food anyways then play songs from you i pod. oh and really why not have it in a backyard, think, total garden theme! oh i can see it now, and babe, you look great! good luck!

What kind of wedding would that be with nothing but the ceremony? Everyone goes home after the ceremony? Why not just go to Vegas and get married. Or wait until you can have enough money to have a decent wedding.

Do a simple 15-minute ceremony in a large room or at a backyard party. Just throw a party, and in the middle announce a wedding, do it and yell, "Now everybody dance!"

Get a permit for use of a park. Have it outdoors. You can rent folding chairs and have a PA system wired up and it would be just like in a church.

Few options:
after the wedding instead of serving an entire meal have a snack/dessert reception with all kinds of sweets, cheeses, veggies, and meats. That will help out the budget right there.

Still got your heart set on a meal at the reception? Try calling places and find out if you get a deal if you marry during the work week then have the meal or a weekend morning. then do a brunch afterwards.

Host a bBQ at a local park...just make sure you find out the rules about parties in the park.

PS...maybe you should look into hiring a photog...have your bro do the before pics which would be normally the first two hours of what you'd pay another photographer...then hire one for 4 hours so your brother can also enjoy the festivites. Letting him do the before shots will save you LOTS of money.

Good luck! I hope this helped!!
