I am a photographer that has been asked to photograph a sister-in-law's family that has been nothing but cruel |
Two weeks ago we had even seen them in a local restaurant only realizing it was them after we were seated and we said hi. But they basically gave us the cold shoulder. And they were with family members that kept glaring at us and whispering. It was extremely ackward to say the least. I don't feel comfortable photographing extended family but especially don't feel comfortable photographing extended family that we don't get along with and treats us horribly. Is there a nice way to turn her down and be honest????? "I make it a practice never to photograph family, let me recommend someone to you." I'm also a pro photographer, and I know exactly what you're facing. So here's what you do. Go ahead and shoot them, then you can in photoshop or whatever you use, alter the pictures to show the real them. You know, the horns coming out of the dads head, and your sister in laws butt sure has gotten bigger. Have they always had ugly tellow teeth? This is your chance to show their true colors. Did little Johnny always have buck teeth? Even though I shoot all types of things, my main and most recent area has been in Forensic photography, and legal video. My goal in life is to videotape my ex mother in laws autopsy. Have fun. Lets see.... I don't want to take photographs of you or your extended family because I find that you are cold, cruel, rude and not the least bit easy to get along with... LOL.. You might want to leave out the honest part. :) Nice is good but it doesn't mean doormat. The first posters answer is best and next time your out where you may run into them carry some sunglasses. The glare will be much brighter. ( Only if your worried about sunburn should you suck it up and take the picture. ) Good Luck and God Bless It depends on how honest you want to be. Obviously, saying I don't want to photograph your family because I don't like you, is honest but not nice. Maybe you could just say you don't photograph family. Not 100% honest, but nicer. Me, I'd go with the first one. I'm not as nice as you... everyone has the right to refuse service...I'm sure your not getting paid for taking bad treatmeant...so don't deal with there BS and take your dignity and don't do it. just tell her how you feel about it all. CALL THE POLICE! |
