What is the average salary of an independent photographer...like someone who takes senior pics and family pics I don't think that there is an average salary of a freelance photographer. Most would think that a photographer would gain more business by the quality of his work. Which is true to some extent. However, for freelance photography to be truly lucrative the photographer needs to know how to successfully promote their business or hire someone to do so. Without advertising or promotion of some sort their business will not be that successful. To give you an idea of what a photographer makes, I'll tell you what I charge: Senior Pictures: anywhere from $200-$1000 depending on what they want/need. Senior pictures are very profitable because you are selling something that will only come around once in their life time. So, not only are the clients purchasing something that they need but it is also an emotional purchase. My profit ranges anywhere from:$150-$800 Family Pics: $100-$300 per session. This is pure profit since I shoot digitally. That does not include their prints. That is the session fee. Source(s): Freelance Photographer i think that it is about 100,000 per year!!!! It all depends on what you take photo's of and how good you are. My friend is aprofessional photographer and her cheapest package for weddings is 1000 british pounds, her most expensive is 5000!!
