I want to be a photographer but my family thinks I'm going into psychology, which should i do? If photography is what will make you happy, then photography is what you need to go for. The choice is yours, the worse mistake you could ever make is to do something to please somebody else. That will not accomplish anything for you or for your well being and you will not be all that happy and who knows you may just dislike your classes and your performance in school may not be all that well. Follow your dreams. It is your life and it is your responsibility to create your own path, one that is comfortable for you and one that is your own unique style. Your family needs to accept whatever it is that YOU choose to do because it is YOUR life and if they do not like what you are doing, then let that be their problem and not yours. As long as you are happy, that is what counts. Sell your photography and don't get a psychology degree or apply for any psychology jobs. Sam, Do what you want to. Sure, there are pro's and con's to both professions, BUT if you're not happy it want you're doing, it's not worth it, and you're likely to quit down the road. it's your life so wahtever you feel is right I think you should do what makes you happy and what interests you. Don't live your life for your family or you will never feel fulfilled and valued. Your family loves you and they will understand [it might take time, but they will come around]. Do what makes you Happy and when they see you are happy, then they will realize Photography is what you were meant to do. I think you should tell them the truth. Or maybe get a double degree. But definitely telling the truth will be better than not admitting what you really want to do . take pictures of people's minds. It's a compromise. : > ) |
