Name of Famous Photographer?

I can't think of this photographers name that I studied in one of my art classes. I remember he took a black and white photo of a bell pepper and I want to say that the name of the picture was Pepper #64 or Bell Pepper #64...? I think he also took pictures of sea shells too and maybe he live in the Monterey area. And no it is not Ansel Adams but I think this photographer lived around his time like in the early 1900's. He I think also took pictures of nude women on the beach. If you could tell me the name that would be great! Thanks!
