Looking for the name of the photographer that takes pictures of dead people.?

I'm pretty sure its a guy and that he is famous. The pictures are in black and white. I remember seeing a photo of a persons face with twigs sticking out to make it look like an Indian. I believe that he has three names (ex. Henry John Adams). I don't know if he is an American or not. I've searched Google and I couldn't find any answers.

I first found the photographer through an article about Richard Gere. Gere had said that he kept a book of the photographers work on his coffee table.

I want to show some of my friends this guys work. Plus maybe order some prints for myself.

Thanks to anyone who can give me a name or lead me in the right direction.
