What am I supposed to say when people ask what I do?

HELP!!! All these ppl I went to college with ask what I do now that I am out of school. I am assuming they are asking what do I do for a living! Currently, I am not technically employed but I do help out my mother with her business as a fashion merchandiser and assistant coordinator. Also, I am busy applying to grad school. I am trying to become a volunteer for a kids camp! Another thing is, I am an aspiring model meaning a photographer has asked me to be his model for a calendar as well as just add to his portfolio next month.

Nothing exciting has been happening in my life for me to really boast about. Often I am not sure what to say when people ask what I have been up to. The only thing I have tried to do is find a job as well as apply to grad school. It kind of makes me hesitate, please help! Serious answers only! Thank you.

This Thursday, I wanted to visit my college to support my friend he is a design student. All these kids will be asking what I do!

You have nothing to hide from them. There is nothing wrong with graduating from collage and then working with your mother. People do that all the time when they graduate. Maybe not work with their mothers, but you know, take small jobs until they find something else or until a job in your field comes open. I would just tell them that you are trying to get into grad school and while you are waiting on the acceptance you are helping your mother out and you are doing some small modeling jobs on the side. They shouldn't have anything negative to say about that.

seriously..they kinda just wanna know how your doing and how is life out of college like, just mention your applying for grad school and your planning on taking an oppurtunity that arose in the modeling field and thats about it, if they ask about details then tell them details but thats about it.

if you feel ashamed about not having a job or smthn, there really isnt anything to be ashamed of seriously =]

well i mean you can tell them that you shouldnt be ashamed of it.....but since you are applying to grad school you shouldnt be ashamed of not working. most grad students dont have a good f/t time job anyway

Just say you have been keeping busy with different projects, you don't owe them any further explanation!
