What type of equipment is necessary for an amateur Fashion Photographer?

I am just starting out and I don't have a big amount of $ to spend. I am interested in taking photos of bands, but I don't know what equipment I need or how to go about it. thanks in advance

Depends...

Do you mean like Studio photography ?
if so, you'll need a few things:

a) Back Drops ( Different Backgrounds )
b) Strobe Lighting.. ( Price Varies )
c) External Flash Unit ( You're Using A DSLR Right? )

And that's just to get you started, the other accessories are going to be really expensive, you might need to save a little more money...

If You're Doing Stage Photography ( In The Audience )

You'll Need

a) a camera that can go up to a high ISO, and the images aren't going to be to grainy there...

( you can't use lighting and flashes there, it's not allowed. )
