Photographer in need of new ideas.

I'm a photographer and have mostly done a lot of themed shoots in the past like portraits, railway tracks, monuments, stadiums, insects, lanscapes, macro, marine, ships, abstract, retro, pin-up, artistic nudity, fashion, art etc.

I am looking for more out-of-box ideas that I could use as themes for some of my future shoots. Could be ANYTHING.

I'd say...list three to five of your top ideas. Let's make this interesting.

Looking forward to the responses. Thanks.

1) Shoot flowers or leaves from the back with the light shining through them.

2) Learn the depth of field for your favorite lens and use it. (Example: My 21mm lens, on a 35mm film camera, when focused to 6' at f16 gives everything from 2' 2" to infinity in focus.) You might need to invest in the ExpoAperture2 (http://www.expoimaging.net) which is a circular chart with lens focal length, f-stop and sensor size to give you the depth of field.

3) Reflections in puddles, being careful to not include the actual object/objects being reflected. You can get some interesting ones in parking lots.

4) Use silver mylar as a background for flowers or to show the reflection of the sky under the flower.

5) Make a "lens hood" of mylar and use it on your widest lens. The idea is to get the distorted reflections as part of the picture.

6) Go to http://www.adorama.com and click on AIRC (Adorama Imaging Resource Center) and then on SFX Photography.

reflections have fascinated me for quite some time, be they in in water, buildings, or auto mirrors. (or anyother kind of mirror or reflective surface, i even used a silver serving tray to get a shot of the eggs in a swallow's nest once) infact using the reflection from a silver serving tray for a series may be a thought. y'know i may just try that myself.
airael photography from an airplane, or from the top of a tall building looking down may not be as boring as it might look from the beginning (though i do experience some motion sickness in small aircraft.)
people in wheelchairs, make some of those creeps who park in handicap zones without proper tagage think again, it is a royal pain in the butt to unload a wheel chair and assist someone without those side stripped no parking spots next to handi zones...i'm 57 and it hurts to move anyway, assisting someone in need is agrivated by the thoughtless jerks who are just going to be a minute.

I've found the best way to get my juices flowing is to approach the common from an uncommon perspective. A good exercise is "bugs eye" v/s "bird's eye" view of the same subject. Try using the "1/10 to 10X" view of the same subject. By moving in closer, then farther away from your subject, you will become more aware of detail and avoiding distracting elements . Although it is only an exercise, it will help open up your vision.

maybe a photo-shoot with spiders, like spiders in teacups , a spider on a spoon or

or something like when it's raining , have someone play like a violin out in the rain , or any other instrument.

try out flowers that show emotions. Like take a rose and shove needles thru and and add something that looks like blood , or 2 flowers hugging each , or a seedling with a grown up plant .

some things that ive done
1. reflections.in car mirrors or avatar sunglasses
2. upside down
3. take an object hide it in each picture
4. get one of your friends to take a position and do that in all the other ones
5. take the picture as if you were a foot tall
changing perspective is what makes pictures interesting

1. Upside down
2. Reflection (through a mirror?)
3. Backward (mirror)
4. Dark (take pictures in the dark using a a variety of flashes)
5. Underneath (take pictures of things, but be underneath them, that would look awesome through a glass floor!)

Hope this helps!

Well.. I think these are pretty cool.
1. reflections in car mirrors. during rain it looks pretty good. ;]
2. the sidewalk.
3. brick walls.
4. swirling stairs.
5. you can mess around with water try to make it look cool. like make it swirly.

hope i helped. :]
