Which careers can be pursued with which degrees:
fashion photography
communications (journalism)
fine arts You've basically answered the question yourself.
Of these the fashion and communications career tracks best lend themselves to working in the advertising world. Photojournalism is great for working in the news media world, though many photojournalists are doing quite well as hands-off style wedding photographers.
Keep in mind that for every high profile photographer in each market area there are many more struggling to keep up. To some extent this is because most markets can't support the number of photographers that are available. But it also has to do with each photographer's ability to market him or herself and to effectively manage his or her own business.
For that reason I HIGHLY recommend that no one interested in working in photography pursue a fine arts degree from a traditional college. I recently had an interesting conversation with the head of the arts department at a local university. I asked to review the course requirements for qualification into and later the graduation from the program. I pointed out the complete lack of business and marketing classes. There are countless art history and portfolio design courses (which are very valuable) but not one class to teach the student how to survive in the real world.
I asked why no business management or marketing classes were offered. She was shocked and only managed to say, "Because this is an art program!" I responded, "Then why do you suppose artists have a reputation for being poor?"
The other end of the spectrum of photography studies is also disturbing, but that's a topic for another day. all of the subjects you are a top contributor in........
fashion photography - glamour - mostly freelancers - some contracted to magazines
communications (journalism) - newspapers will hire you, also freelancers
fine arts - freelance field
a All of them that you have stated there,no degrees they won't employed you,try to get an exam for Bachelor of Arts or PhD in Photography of London and New York.Good luck to you. |
