How do you get a career in fashion??

I'm not a model and I can't sew, but it would be awesome to have a career around fashion. I've noticed that a lot of actresses have their own clothing line and I doubt they can sew and I absolutely looooved the movie "The Devil Wears Prada". It was awesome. My question is, how can one that can't model or sew get a career in the fashion/apparel industry? CAN you work fashion/apparel without being able to sew?? Writing and Photography are enjoyable and I would gladly learn to sew if I have to, but isn't there anybody who just puts outfits together like the ones in Vogue and Teen Vogue???

Also, how do you get such a wonderful career? Are there any college courses fashion/apparel?? It would be awesome to have my own fashion line/magazine!

oh my god i want to do the same thing!, im actually planning to fo to fidm in los angeles,california and im going to study fashion design, there they will teach me sewing,sketching and other things and the great thing is that theres actually famous teachers there that can give you advice and also they will help you with interships like teen vogue and stuff, go to this website it tells you alot of information i hope i helped.

You will have to take design courses for sure. RISD is one of the best design schools I've heard of, but you'd need to be one of the best wherever you go to be successful - or have a really good idea.

If you want to follow a career in fashion business, then you'd also need a degree in some sort of business area as well.

FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) it is an amazing school!! i too would like to have a career in fashion. i toured the campus in LA and it is amazing! i am going there in the fall. try getting interships at fashion places/magizines (Teen Vogue, Vogue, Elle Girl, Seventeen, Cosmo Girl, ect.)

you could always get a job in the fashion industree as a designer. OR you can be the advertiser or marketing adviser. It couldn't hurt to get a degree in fashion, design, marketing, manegment or etc. I'm not in the business but it would probebly help with the job.
