Lens For Fashion Photography?? |
What is a great Canon lens for photographing fashion? Price is no issue and i currently use my 50mm f1.4 for my beauty shots. Help! But can you recommend one? For a 35mm film camera or a digital with a full size element like a 5D, you want to use 80mm or larger. For the digital camera with the smaller elements such as the Canon 30D, 20D or D30 50mm or better will work. Zoom lenses are convenient because they allow you to re-frame quickly instead of walking back and forth. On occasion a wide angle lens may be used but in general the fish eye effect is not flattering and you have to be very careful about how the model is posed since any part of her body that is closer to the lens will appear unusually large. Longer lenses reduce that effect and the model is generally more comfortable without the camera right in her face. There is no limit to the lenses you can use for fashion. Thats a great lens, but I agree with the post above. Try OTHER lenses. I have the same lens, and it is very limiting. I also use a zoom (Tamron28-80 4.5-5.6) because you need more flexibility than that one. Heck, I even use my macro once in a while. |
