Which camera better suits my needs??? |
I have an opportunity to fulfill my career in fashion photography and I want to buy a new camera (currently I own a Sony DSLR). I have about $5000 to play with, I am torn between a Canon Rebel XTi or a Canon EOS-1D Mark III. I'm thinking I should get a medium format since most ad work is done in that format, does it really matter that much?? Which should I choose?? Neither. I would suggest the Canon 30D, the Canon 40D (still to be released), or the Canon 5D. Spend any remaining money on good lenses. I personally would suggest the Canon 5D of these 3, but it's the lenses that are the most important. You can't afford a medium format digital, so forget that. If you want to consider Nikon, try the Nikon D200 or wait for the upcoming D300. Again, spend any leftover money on good lenses. which camera has the best review? www.dpreview.com might help choose the XTi Consider the new Nikon D300 or D3. Don't forget to factor the costs of lenses and lighting, as good lighting can make all the difference in a fashion shoot. Medium format is great for film, but equipment choices are very limited for digital, and costly. Amateur & professional photographer for 45+ years Formerly in photo & video sales and training.
