Big Mac of Photography? |
so a hundred years or so (correct me if im wrong) ago someone decided to use paint and paint colour on a black and white shot. it came and went like all fashions, but now its like every second person with a camera wants to do it the question pops up every few hours, so is this just macdonalds photography? the big mac or cheese burger maybe? your feedback appreciated.. oh and so we all scream not that question again here it is for you : go on let it out!! how do i make a photo where its all black and white but with one colour how do i make a photo where its all black and white but with one colour how do i make a photo where its all black and white but with one colour how do i make a photo where its all black and white but with one colour how do i make a photo where its all black and white but with one colour EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!! Okay, got that out. It's a trend. Back when we used film and didn't have pictures on computers, I bought some paints to use on photos. It was not easy, I tell you! But I did manage to tint some copies of old B&W pics of my parents, making them look like actual old photos, before selling the paints to someone who knew what they were doing. Anyway, someone sees a picture they like and they want to try it themselves. It's ever so much easier now that we have Photoshop, so everyone has to try it. Oddly enough, I haven't tried it yet. So how do you do it then? Kidding! Don't hit me! Ow!I think that by kindly having drawn our attention to its apparent overuse, you have now successfully hastened its relegation to the status of a cliche to be avoided by all those wanting to be truly original. Can you do the same for macdonalds now please? I'll have to admit...this place can be as repetitive as someone with OCD ~ but ~ I usually just roll my virtual eyes and mutter something unflattering under my breath and move on without dignifying it with an answer, although there have been a few times when I couldn't resist a sarcastic little answer just to point out that it was a ridiculous question to begin with...but those are usually reserved for people who post non photography related questions. like "is this a rebel flag...if not what is it?"- -Uh...GOOGLE IT!!! and "why does the guy that makes the crop circles not have a passport" - - that one really amused me Unfortunately the world is full of stupid people (i used to be married to one of them :-D) with stupid questions. Poster children for sterilization. *sigh* Keep in mind that there are a good amount of young people on here and they don't want to waste their time seeing if the same question was posted farther down on the page. Unless you answer the question in super detail they sometimes will still not understand and then have another question in reference to their first question. I only answer questions here most of the time that: 1) fall in this category of photography. 2) it is a tough question and requires me to use my brain... hmmm. 3) the answers given by others were totally incorrect. 4) if the question was answered by enough people properly then I do not put my 2 cents in. Once again.. just my 2 cents (euro), Kevin Professional Photographer I would just like to point out that Nikonfotos above me has apparently mistaken young people with stupid people. Being a young person myself, I must point out that although youth and stupidity are frequently simultaneous, the two are not the same (actually I frequently find myself irritated by the stupidity of a few of my elders). P.S. My personal peeve (infuriating really) are the people that buy nicer cameras than my young self can afford, then ask basic questions here about how they should use them. Its the same as "I just bought '57 Chevy Bel Air, now can someone teach me how to drive...?" |
