What do I have to study to work in a fashion magazine? |
I'm very very interested and love photography and fashion. I don't know exactly what to study to work in one. I know they probably will need experience too. Damnit. I don't know. What do you guys think? hello i am a senior in college and ia m about to graduate with my bachelors in fashion merchandising. so i would suggest you go to college you can major in both photography, and fashion. in school there are jobs offers, and internships that are available at the school career centers, also the teachers might have friends or know people who work in the industry so they can help you to connect, with jobs offers or internships. also there might be otehr students wo work in teh industry or have conections to that field. just follow your passion. school is a great place to start and these days it is very important to have a Bachelors degree, even though is not so necessarty that you have one in these industry. but you actually learn so much in college, and the designers, and managers doing the hiring are more than impressed when someone have their degree. I was at a workshop and the guest speaker was Atoosa from Seventeen and she said she majored in political science but got her foor in the door getting an internship at Sassy ( i think i can't remember though) and by just being persistent and determined she was able to get a job in the fashion detpartment at Cosmo and then created cosmo girl and then became editor of seventeen. so i guess what you major in really isn't that important as long as you get experience? I want to work for a magazine and I am planning to major in journalism or communications. If you are serious then you should try and get an internship somewhere. Maybe at a local newspaper, just so you can have some experience Start by maybe interning. If you are really serious about working for the fashion industry, try going to fashion school. If you live in or around California, I would suggust FIDM, it's where Lauren Conrad went to school, and a know a few people who go/are going there. I am guessing that you live near New York City or LA, or maybe Paris, so see if there's any help needed. |
