I bought photographic lighting 1500 Watts is tis enough for fashion photography? |
I bought the JTL1500 watt lighting system with boom for overhead lighting. I am a fashion designer and want to photograph my clothing on models. Will this be enough light or do I need something more intense like a 3000 watt system? It should be plenty for what you are doing. I use one Tota-Light with umbrella and a fill card (reflector) to shoot models most of the time and it is plenty. Your three light set up will be very easy to control shooting without an assistant. You can see some of my work if you are interested. My profile here has a link to it. Source(s): Editorial, sports and glamour photographer 1500 w/s is more than sufficient for what you are doing granted you are not working on location and trying to light up a football field. Of course there are occasions when 3000w/s might come in handy such as capturing action at F64 with 50 ISO film how many times do you need to do that. Anyhow, I would not focus so much on how many watt seconds your power pack puts out, but rather the quality of the lighing and what kind of light modifiers you have: umbrellas, softboxes, honeycomb grids, gels, snoots etc... These are the things which give mood to your light. I personally can deal with low power output powerpacks like 400 and 800 w/s packs, but I can't do without my light modifiers. I suggest if you haven't gotten any that you check out B&H or any professional photo store. |
