What is the definition of fashion photography? A very basic guide is this: If the picture is about the model, it's GLAMOUR. If the picture is about the bra she's wearing, it's FASHION. Obviously that's a very simplified answer, but it's the most direct. -- Richard Rasner Nakayama Studios I don't have a formal def, but it is mainly the photography of fashion, in which the element captured is fashion related, it is not necessarily to be an outfit, maybe one thing-a hat for example, or a hand with a crazy designed ring worn...So the important thing about this type of photography is having a fashion element in it and a creative way of choosing the angle, the lighting, the focus and so on. I studied fine arts and photography... dont know fashion photography and commercial photo used to have the same concept .they both feature a product which needs to be sold.lately more and more fashion photographers are developing a taste for complete narratives {stories around the clothes, models,surroundings]and high end fashion catalogs are selling more than a skirt are selling the dream of a great holiday in Ibiza. fashion photography have seen a great revival the last decade{due in part to the digital} and the line between art photography and high end fashion is nonexistent.see PRADA campaign whith the models reenacting old crime scene photos. |
