Could you please explain these photography terms to me?

and what does the size of the lens mean like.. 18-55 mm mean

10.1 MP CMOS sensor - 10 megapixel sensor of CMOS design.
EOS - Canon's designation for their SLR cameras.
Whats a filter - it screws onto the threads at the front of the lens and it's not the grip helps you hold the camera.
430EX flash - a particular model of flash that mounts on your camera and puts out a lot more light than the built in flash.
EF-S Lens - the type of lens that Canon uses on it's digital SLR cameras.
18-55 - the focal range of the lens. See: http://www.flickr.com/photos/samfeinstei... The first four frames there show you from 18 mm to 50 mm. An 18-55 mm lens would give you these plus every single step in between and a few more all the way to 55 mm.

It sounds like you are considering buying a Canon EOS 400D (Rebel XTi) with a Canon 430 EX Speedlite flash. It's a very good camera and an excellent flash. The XTi is the top selling digital SLR and has been almost since it was introduced. New, these items would cost you about $830.
