Can I use D80 to trigger SB28s wirelessly?

Hello,

Instead of going for 2 sb600s or sb800s, can I use sb28s instead? They would be triggered by D80 in-camera function activated with the pop-up flash. A long while back, I tried SB26 and it worked (along with SB600) when setting the SB26 to slave and manual (it's a while back so I'm not 100% sure about the settings). I'm not good at flash photography, so any help or recommendation is appreciated.

Yes you can provided you remain in slave mode on the SB28 and you trigger it with the pop-up flash of your D80. You can't use CLS (creative lighting system) though, that function is only available with the 600 and 800 speedlights where your D80 would serve as the commander to trigger the speedlights via the IR sensors on both your D80 and the speedlights. You're not missing much with that mode anyway.

Sure. If the 26s did it the 28 will too.

In fact, I'm still using a 28DX (the original 28 was not DX) as my primary flash - both on and off camera.
