I'm new to photography and I know it seems stupid but? |
How can you make the shutter speed quicker if youve turned your flash off because say for instance its very bright outside so youve turned your flash off, this then makes the shutter speed slow, this is silly because now you need a fast speed. This is for a basic-ish automatic camera. The only stupid questions are the one that are never asked. You didn't state what type of camera you are using.If i is a film camera you can get a film with a higher ISO. Something like 800 speed. If it is a digital camera you can change the ISO setting. Go into the settings of your camera and look for either ISO or film speed and go with the higher number. The setting is usually for action an high lighting settings. Turning off the flash doesnt make the shutter speed slow. The flash is normally synchronized to fire at a specific speed (let's say 1/60). If you turn off the flash, the camera's speed will adjust to the amount of light available. Indoors, it will definitely be slower that the flash sync speed, and outdoors it will definitely be faster than the flash sync speed because of the amount of light available. Well you have to move out of the "automatic" mode. Check if your camera has a "speed" priority setting. If it does, you can set the speed manually, then the camera will adjust everything else. Another way to increase speed is to set the Aperture to the largest possible size (smallest number). But if you cant set the speed manually, then surely, there is no provision in the camera to adjust the aperture. Turning on the flash slows the shutterspeed to usually 60... turning it off increases the spead to 100 at least. You can only control it manually if you have a manual (M) setting or the (S) setting for shutter. |
