I want to do product photography. What type of equipment do I need? |
I'm basically looking for a shopping list of exactly what I'll need so that I can beggin selling photos for advertising. I want to be able to sell my photography and I figured that product photography would be the best place for me to start. What type of Camera? Lights? Backdrops? Will I need flashes and reflectors? Can I substitute some lights with refectors? Do I have to use computer programs? What is the best color film for great color saturation? Also, any additional tips on where to beggin taking my first steps in this direction would be amazingly helpful. Thank you! :) Products usually require artificial lighting and studio work. To eliminate harsh deep shadows, you will look for diffuse or multiple fixtures. Flash is easier because you can use daylight film, but very hard to control shadows, reflectors may help here. Tungston lights are expensive require heavy blue filtering which can wash color saturation. Just starting out i would suggest digital camera so you can see immediately how lighting is working. Once you workout the shot, you can switch to film. your clients really determine if your completed work should be film or digital.
