Why is flash photography not allowed in Catholic weddings? |
Why is flash photography not allowed in Catholic weddings? We Catholics hold the Mass as totally sacred and especially during the consecration of the Holy Eucharist and taking photos is not only a distraction but it is deemed inappropriate, to the sacredness of the Mass. Its distracting. it confuses the bishop as to which light to follow I don't remember not seeing this. So many weddings today do pictures before or after. Maybe less distraction? Use of flash photography is at the sole discretion of the pastor of the church, or the priest presiding over the ceremony. Many ministers view flash photography as demeaning and disrespectful to the solemnity of the religious ceremony, not just Catholic priests. And the flash policy can change from church to church. Use a faster film, or go digital. Never heard this before. And I live in Italy; 95% of the weddings are catholic, and the guests are snapping photos all the time. You're perhaps confusing flash photography with flashing, which is almost certainly frowned upon at catholic weddings. |
