My sister has a hi8 video camera (not digital), and she's wanting to get the best quality tape for it. They will try to move the movies to DVD, but would still like the tape to be archival quality as a backup. From what we understand HME is better quality to HMP.
Have also heard that Fuji is better than Sony, but not sure what brand we should look for (TDK?).
Thanks. i shot a lot of hi-8 back in the day, and fuji m221e was the best... it calls itself an "me position" tape, which i believe gives you the picture quality of a metal evaporated(hme) tape, but the durability of a metal particle(hmp) tape.
b&h photo video in new york probably still stocks it.
fuji, sony, and tdk are all seperate brands, so look for the fuji m221e. |
