Which digital cameras have the largest megapixels?

I have an old Fuji that only has like 2, so you can see i'm in the iceages as far as the newer ones go. Of course, my camera only cost me like $299 a few years ago, and i know they have cameras that are like $800. what would the highest megapixel digital cameras cost? what would a pretty good mid-range megapixel camera be? I'm looking for one that has video capability WITH SOUND.

thanx

The highest megapixel cameras are made by Hasselblad. It's about 38 Mp and $35,000. Get off your *SS and do some research

It's not the megapixel size that makes a camera good,

it's the features.

sony

A typical low end digital camera these days has about six megapixels. That's plenty, unless you actually printing out pictures on photo quality paper. I've been very happy with the FujiFilm Finepix F10. It's discontinued, but I heard its sequel the F30 is even better. It's only a few hundred dollars.

For $299 now you can get a pretty nice digicam with 5 to 8 mega pixels and many more features than just a couple of years ago

Go to www.dpreview to research camera features and read reviews.

Entry level SLR bodies start at around $600 or a bit more, depending on the brand. Lenses and accessories cost extra. Or you can get a "prosumer" digicam for around $400 to $600. The SLR will not have video capability.

The Most Pixels...

How much money have you got?
The Hasselblad H3D-39 has 39 MP for $32,000.
The Canon EOS-1D2 Mark II has 16.6 MP for $7,000.
There are several in the 10-12 MP range.

Camera suggestion...

Consumer Reports for November 2006 has ranked the Canon Powershot A620 as the best compact digital camera. It is becoming almost a legend for longevity at the top of various consumer lists. It looks like this model has been replaced by the A630, which I would expect to be just as popular. The A640 appears quite similar and shares the "600" series numbering, so I guess it's just another upgraded version of the now-classic A620. It looks pretty much the same except for being a 10 MP camera.

I own a few Nikon DSLR's and I'd buy the Canon A630 or A640 for myself.

The A620 was rated about twice as good as any as far a battery life. I hope the A630 and A640 are just as good. Use Energizer e2 LITHIUM batteries and you will be happy with battery life.

With this camera, you will find the memory card is a cute little token of thanks from Canon, but not much more. Buy a 1 GB Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III card. You will NEED the increased capacity and write speed to fully realize the benefits of your camera.
